When it comes to cleaning and caring for any products used in your remodel or new build, your safest bet is always to check the manufacturer’s care guide for warranty, care, and maintenance information. It’s important not to use any products or methods that could damage your materials or even void your warranty.

Below you will find a few tips and links for guidance on caring for your cabinets, countertops, and flooring so you can love where you live for years to come.

Care + Maintenance

Cabinets

Regular cleaning with the right products will help maintain your cabinets and keep them as beautiful as the day they were installed. Using gentler products rather than harsh chemicals is your best bet for extending the life of your cabinets.

Check out our quick tips for cabinet cleaning, but be sure to check the manufacturer’s guidelines first.

Countertops

Care + Maintenance

For routine cleaning, use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth to keep your countertops looking their best. Be sure to clean up any spills right away. There are many other tips for maintaining the integrity of your countertops, so check with your manufacturer for best practices.

Flooring

Your flooring sees a lot of activity, from heavy traffic in common spaces to lightly traveled corners of your master suite. The spills, messes, and dirt of daily life can build-up and shorten the lifespan of your floors if not properly cared for. With that in mind, you will want to make sure you gently clean up any spills and gently spot clean as needed. You will also want to have a standard care routine to maintain the quality of your flooring.

Sweep, dust mop, or vacuum the floor regularly to avoid a collection of dust and dirt that could dull or damage your floors.

Periodically clean your hard surface floors with cleaning products made specifically for pre-finished floor care, such as Shaw’s R2X Hard Surface Cleaner or Bona. For carpet, having your carpet professionally cleaned via hot-water extraction every 1-year to 18 months is recommended by many manufacturers. However, you will want to confirm that the process used is approved for your type of carpet.

Again, you should consult your manufacturer’s care guide to be sure the products and methods you use for cleaning and maintenance are within their warranty guidelines.
