Collaboration is a key that unlocks innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, increased efficiency, and enhanced results. In an industry as demanding and ever-changing as construction, joining forces with equally driven professionals presents a path towards mutual, and greater, success.

ACo and Gettum, a full-service design-build contractor, have struck up a unique partnership – and no one benefits more than our valued homeowners.

Since 1987, family-owned Gettum has completed hundreds of residential projects throughout the Indianapolis area, guiding their homeowners through the process with the utmost efficiency, personalized attention, and professionalism. Specializing in everything from whole home remodels and additions to porches, decks, and sunrooms, Jason Gettum, President, says, “We shine when walls need to be removed and space needs to be reconfigured.”

Relationships and trust are keystones of this design/build contractor. Jason emphasizes that Gettum “works closely with homeowners to achieve their vision – and ensure it’s done right.”

As a flooring and cabinetry dealer, this is a core value that ACo wholeheartedly shares. When it comes to partnering with home builders, ACo knows they have enough to worry about, so where they source cabinetry and flooring shouldn’t add to their concerns.

How did the alliance between ACo and Gettum emerge? Jason explains, “We were struggling to find people to work with; we do a lot of tile work and have someone on staff, but you can burn someone out.” Given the intense demand, it “became necessary to bring in outside help. We worked with a few companies with varying levels of success… Until it became a headache.”

A chance introduction to ACo at a Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) event changed that. Mia Farrell, ACo Design & Sales Consultant, says, “We do a lot of work as a vendor partner in the realm of flooring and cabinetry. We have confidence in our installers in providing those services to custom home builders.”

Mia continues, “The leadership at our company has a unique perspective: It’s always about how we can be the best at what we do and grow. Where can we find opportunities to do more of what we’re good at?” Working with Gettum was just such an opportunity.

Jason says, “It really opened my mind that when two companies help each other and have the same visions and goals, good things can happen. [With ACo], we know we’re dealing with a reputable, passionate company that really just wants what’s best for the client. That fits with our values.”

As a vendor partner, ACo provides design, selection, and installation support for Gettum. Mia explains, “Gettum designers are [the homeowners’] point person when it comes to getting a project from inception to design to installation. [ACo] is a vendor along the way.”

With Gettum’s designers leading the charge, clients have a solid vision in mind by the time they walk into ACo’s showroom to make selections. “Where ACo shines,” Jason says, “is in refining selections. If we’re in a budget crunch, for example, they’re really good at finding alternate, yet similar, options.” He adds that given Gettum’s focus, it’s impossible to stay up to date on all flooring and tile trends, so that expertise truly comes in handy as well.

“[ACo’s] vision is the same as ours. At the end of the day, we have to look out for the client and what’s right for them.”

That is just what happened when a Gettum client walked through the ACo doors. On a recent bathroom project, for example, ACo was working with a homeowner on selections. She hadn’t been able to find quite the right fit for her vision when it came to cabinetry, so Mia showed her a sample of our custom line, and it was love at first Amish-built sight.

It sounds simple – and it was very simple for the client who got the cabinets she loved without a headache of her own. But it also relieved some pressure from the Gettum designers and helped them solve that challenge.

Growing Stronger, Together

The partnership between ACo and Gettum is a true collaboration. From day one of this partnership, it’s always been about trust. Gettum entrusts their clients to us, and we know ours are in the right hands for large-scale projects. Jason says, “Developing these connections and relationships has helped the success of both companies.” Most importantly to both Gettum and ACo, it ensures the success of their homeowners.
